A Story, A Legend – From Astoria to Sacher

The legendary Alpin Resort Sacher, formerly the ASTORIA Resort

The Astoria Resort looks back on a long history. The resort has been family-owned since the 1950s, yet the world has changed over these decades – and so has the house. Over the years, the small "Pension Britannia" grew into the "Astoria Resort", which is proud to hold a 5-star superior classification and therefore ranks among the 24 finest hotels in Austria.

The new ASTORIA – repeatedly transformed, yet radiant once more, a modern legend – stands high above Seefeld and welcomes its guests. Some of these guests are, as in the past, prominent figures, known to a wide public for their outstanding achievements in art, culture, business or science; others are, or wish to remain, unknown. All guests have one thing in common: they are looking for peace and quiet, they want to ARRIVE – SWITCH OFF – and RECHARGE…

We, the entire SACHER team, want to keep our traditions alive by presenting one of these well-known guests each year as our special guest, and by asking them publicly why they choose to spend their precious free time with us. They are to continue writing the story of our legends of the 1950s in their own hand, and thus serve as ambassador for that year.

Each year we also want to bring one of our long-serving team members into the spotlight, to show our guests that continuity is only possible thanks to these people.

We are proud to introduce our Staff Legend 2018 and our Guest Legend and Ambassador 2018!

CLEMENS UNTERREINER

Ambassador 2018

The Viennese baritone has been a soloist and ensemble member of the Vienna State Opera since 2005 and has appeared in more than 900 performances over the years. No wonder that he is already rightly regarded as a "legend" himself.

Alongside his musical career, his social commitment is equally important to him. Through his own charitable organisation HILFSTÖNE, he has supported various humanitarian projects at home and abroad for many years.

MARKUS SCHEYRER

More than 30 years with the hotel

The Tyrolean has been working at the resort for 32 years: initially as a pool and sauna attendant, though for years now he has found his true calling as a THERAPIST. Markus really does seem to have "healing hands", and the incredibly positive feedback from our guests confirms this every day: on his massage table you can truly relax and come back to yourself, find peace and be fully present once again. And of course our Markus is also there for Qi Gong, aqua aerobics or Pilates.
